Michael Connarty
Labour Member of UK Parliament - Linlithgow and East Falkirk Constituency
" I do not think it is acceptable for Elected Politician's at UK or Scottish level to reclaim the cost of a wreath for Remembrance Days from the public purse.
I have never claimed for a wreath and think it should not be allowed by any of the Parliaments.
It is a great honour to be asked to take part in the wreath - laying ceremony to commemorate the many who gave their lives for our freedom. Though I do it representing the UK Parliament and the constituents of my constituency, I also do so personally. Having spent time in uniform with our troops in the field in recent years and it is little to ask to pay for a symbol of our Remembrance."
