MP WELCOMES NEW GRANT FOR MUMS –TO-BE

Linlithgow and East Falkirk MP Michael Connarty has welcomed the new grant for mothers to be which has been announced recently.

The one off tax free payment of one hundred and ninety pounds which will be called the “Health In Pregnancy Grant”will help expectant mothers meet some of the extra costs incurred during pregnancy.

The grant can be claimed by a mum- to- be simply asking their designated midwife for a claim form at the first antenatal appointment which usually takes place on or around the twenty fifth week of pregnancy. Once the form is completed and processed the grant will be paid directly into the woman’s bank or building society account.

Michael said “This grant is welcome good news for all expectant mothers. UK wide around sixty five thousand women celebrate the birth of a new child every month, so this grant is a real financial support for mums and will help ease any money worries expectant mothers may have”.
