Bathgate MP Michael Connarty attended the "sod cutting" at Liebherrs new Whitehill Industrial Estate Plant. The new Liebherr plant is being built by local business the Dunne Group and will replace the temporary workshops which Liebherr have operated from since they first came to the area over 40 years ago. The family owned and run Liebherr specialise in heavy plant machinery such as cranes and hydraulic excavators as well as the manufacture of domestic appliances such as refridgerators.
Michael was delighted that Liebherr have decided to upgrade their Bathgate Plant as it will safeguard the jobs of the 45 current employees (25 of which are based at Whitehill with the other 20 working offsite maintaining equipment)The local MP is pictured at the site described by Liebherr as "excellent" with Gordon Dunne Chairman of the Dunne Group and Stefan Hiessler the Managing Director of Liebherr U.K.
Michael commented "I was very pleased when Liebherr announced the upgrade of their current premises here in Bathgate. This highly successful company have employed people in this area since the late 1960s indeed one employee has been with the company locally for 40 years! In these tough economic times it is most welcome when a firm of such good repute as Liebherr decide to consolodate their West Lothian base protecting 45 local jobs and build this plant on our doorstep".
