Bo'ness MP Michael Connarty enthusiastically supports Newton Park Development Trust proposals.

Bo'ness MP Michael Connarty attended and spoke at a meeting in the Richmond Park Hotel in Bo’ness in support of the Plan to set up a Newtown Park Development Trust based on the present Newtown Park, home of Bo’ness United Junior Football Club. The attached photograph shows the capacity audience of supporters of Bo’ness United FC who were enthusiastic in their responses to the plan to set up a Community Trust representing the community of Bo’ness and to administer Newtown Park in a way that reflects “the needs and ambitions of Bo’ness”

The audience heard the progress so far outlined by Robert Sneddon (standing left in photograph) and an outline of possible development ideas to benefit the plan.Other sections of the Bo’ness community, including the older generations and the young people of Bo’ness attended and listened intently to a presentation from from Norman Hill who works with Sport Scotland ( pictured on the right beside Robert Sneddon).

Michael Connarty MP, who accepted an invitation from the organisers to be a Trustee spoke enthusiastically in support of the idea of a Community Trust taking over the development of Newton Park. Michael said there was an urgent need to end the situation he had found for almost twenty years in trying to raise the issues of repairs and possible development with Falkirk Council that the held the park as trustees but they had no money and no interest to give to the care of the park. The platform party was completed by George Sansom and Douglas Sneddon from Bo’ness United F.C.

It was noted that the next public meeting would be held on 4 October 2011 to try to get the message out to the wider Bo’ness community and to invite their attendance and support for the Trust.
