Michael Connarty
Labour Member of UK Parliament - Linlithgow and East Falkirk Constituency
Linlithgow and East Falkirk MP Michael Connarty has pledged his support for the Prospect Trade Unions campaign response to the Governments decision to slash public sector jobs by around 400 000. The so called “I am not a number” campaign will be officially launched at an event being held by the Prospect Union in the Jubilee room in the House Of Commons on March 1st.
Amongst the 400 000 jobs under threat are many thousands of skilled professionals and specialists like forensic scientists, Forestry Commission Staff, flood engineers ,non military civilians who diffuse landmines and many others.
The key message from prospect is that their members are not just numbers to be crunched or “meddling bureaucrats” as some Government Ministers have described public sector workers, they are key workers for our economy and public services . Michael Connarty is also going to be a signatory to Jim Sheridan MP’s Early Day motion (EDM 1394) which will seek to support public sector employment as drastic Government spending cuts are felt.
