Michael Attends Drumbowie Park Open Day

Michael Connarty MP attended the Drumbowie Environment Action Groups annual open day in the village of Standburn

Michael Connarty MP was delighted to be invited to the Drumbowie Environment Action Groups open day in the community of Standburn on June 13th.Michael enjoyed a full programme of entertainment held in Drumbowie Park on the day which included live music, woodturning demonstrations and a bird of prey display.The group who formed in 1996  have transformed the 70 acre Drumbowie Park which was nothing short of a wilderness into a super community owned and run facility with a picnic area, community woodland and a 2 km walk.

After an enjoyable afternoon hosted by the groups chair David Donaldson and secretary May Bennie (pictured with their local MP) Michael Connarty commented “I have nothing but praise for the hard work and community spirit shown by the Drumbowie Environment Action Group in organising such an enjoyable open day to showcase the enormous achievement in transforming a somewhat derelict area into such a good woodland park for all the people residing in Standburn.I especially want to thank the Chair David Donaldson and Secretary May Bennie for my invitation and for all the work they have done for their Community.”
