Michael Asks For Transparency On Scottish Funding

Michael Connarty MP has asked the Leader Of The House to ensure the consequential cuts in Scottish Government funding are fully published.

Michael Connarty MP had a very full Parliamentary diary last week speaking in debates on Human Trafficking and on the 14.5% real term increase in the VAT rate  – Michael made one further important contribution during Business Questions to the Leader Of The House in the chamber on October 14th in relation to the comprehensive spending review and a potential deal suspending the worst excesses of the cuts between the Conservatives and the Scottish National Party.

Michael said during questions to the Leader Of The House – “It is quite clear that the comprehensive spending review will mean massive consequential cuts for the funding of the Scottish Government. We understand that a dirty deal has been done between the Conservatives and their new Scottish National Party allies to postpone those cuts for one year. What will the Leader Of The House do to ensure that the figures are published so that the people will know what the double – whammy cuts will be in the second year, and how will they be scrutinised by the Select Committee on Scottish Affairs or the Scottish Grand Committee.”

Michael Connarty wants his Constituents to see he is pursuing a line of questioning in order to make clear the extent of the cuts (consequentially ) in the Comprehensive Spending review pertaining to his Constituency and indeed all over Scotland both in year one of the cuts and crucially year two as outlined in his question to the Leader Of The House above.
