Loss of 38 bus service in Philipstoun and Springfield

Linlithgow MP Michael Connarty today slammed the latest round of cuts to bus services affecting West Lothian. Today 6 July sees the end of the 38 bus stopping in Springfield and Philipstoun – meaning huge problems for local residents trying to get to Edinburgh and other local destinations.

Michael said “today sees yet another huge blow to bus users in West Lothian. I have just received a letter this week from First citing problems of the low level bridge in Philipstoun – but this has been there for years and must be able to be accommodated”

“We seem to be fighting cuts to the services every other week and it’s time for passengers to get a better deal. The Scottish Government, West Lothian Council and the bus company First need to get round a table and discuss the long term transport needs of the villages and towns of this area – which routes are profitable and which need subsidy as a lifeline service - and not a death by a thousand cuts approach that we are now seeing.”
