Local MP Welcomes Limerigg Post Office Opening

Limerigg MP Michael Connarty has welcomed the re-introduction of postal services to this Community.

Linlithgow and East Falkirk MP Michael Connarty has welcomed the Post Office announcement that as a result of their public consultation exercise and his campaign an outreach service operating each Thursday from 09.30 11.30 will be established in Limerigg Community Hall. The Community Hall is located conveniently only four hundred yards from the old Limerigg post office which closed in February 2009.

As their local MP and an active campaigner against post office closures in the whole of his Linlithgow and East Falkirk Constituency Michael wrote to Royal Mail management suggesting a hosted outreach postal service for Limerigg which could be provided by the nearby Slamannan Post office. The village Community Hall was identified as a suitable venue for the outreach service and after approval was granted from Falkirk Council and the halls Management Committee Royal Mail announced that Limerigg would once again have postal services available. Michael Connarty is pictured with Robert Findlay the regional manager for Royal Mail outside Limerigg Community Hall.

Michael Connarty said “I’m delighted that Royal Mail management have recognised the needs of the Community in Limerigg. After the Post office closed in February 2009 a Public Consultation was launched, Royal Mail listened to local people and agreed that Postal Services should be re - established in this community and that the Village Community Hall would provide an ideal venue for an outreach Postal Service, Royal Mail have fortunately not wavered from their decision as I have not wavered from my commitment to ensure postal services are returned to Limerigg.”
