Global food supply needs to increase by 50%
over the next 20 years if growing demand is to be met. The use of crop
protection products is an immediate and sustainable way to increase
agricultural productivity. Today’s announcement will enable Syngenta to
play a leading role in providing growers around the world with the
tools they need to protect and improve yield. Michael Connarty MP, who is the secretary of the Chemical
Industries Group in the UK Parliament and has represented Grangemouth
for 16 years said: "Syngenta already sell $1 billion each year of
Amistar products, their biodegradeable plant protection fluid out of
Grangemouth. They also carry out their main R&D in the UK. This is
great news for a great workforce and employment in Scotland.
