    Directgov brings together the widest range of public service information and services online. Produced by the Central Office of Information, Directgov provides information from across UK Government departments on topics ranging from travel safety and parental leave to special educational needs and local NHS services.
  • Labour Research Department

    The independent research organisation publishing news and information for trade unionists. Around 2,000 trade union organisations are affiliated, representing more than 99% of total TUC membership.
  • Citizens Advice Bureau

    The Citizens Advice service helps people resolve their legal, money and other problems by providing free information and advice from nearly 3,400 locations, and by influencing policymakers.
  • The Pensions Service

    The Pension Service website is published by the Government. It provides information for individuals about pensions and other pensioner benefits in the UK, whether you are planning for the future, are about to retire or have already retired.

  • European Scrutiny Select Committee

    Michael is currently the Chair of the European Scrutiny Select Committee. The Committee assesses the legal and/or political importance of each EU document, decides which EU documents are debated, monitors the activities of UK Ministers in the Council, and keeps legal, procedural and institutional developments in the EU under review.
  • All-Party Parliamentary Group on the Pharmaceutical Industry

    This summer Michael was elected as the Vice Chair of the APPG of the above group. To discuss issues connected with the operation of the pharmaceutical industry in the UK; to exchange information and views with the pharmaceutical companies; to debate pharmaceutical developments and their impact on patients and UK healthcare.
  • All Parliamentary Jazz Group

    The All Party Parliamentary Jazz Appreciation Group (APPJAG) was set up by interested Members of Parliament in the UK to promote the use and enjoyment of jazz as a music form. The Group has over one hundred members from both the House of Commons and the House of Lords, and is jointly chaired by Michael Connarty, MP for Linlithgow and Falkirk East and Lord Tony Colwyn, himself a very fine trumpeter and band leader.
