Future Jobs Fund to come to West Lothian

West Lothian MP Michael Connarty has today welcomed the decision by West Lothian Council to access the new UK Government ‘Future Jobs Fund’ which allows councils to bid for their share of a £1Billion pot of money to help create jobs for the long-term unemployed and those aged between 18-25.

The fund can be used to target unemployed ‘hotspots’ to maximise the benefit of the monies.

Michael said “West Lothian must win its share of this pot of money – it is a vital opportunity to create jobs particularly in those areas that have suffered most in the past. This UK fund shows that intervening now is the best way to tackle unemployment – we must never stand back and let market forces rip through our communities again like in the 1980’s”.
