Forth Crossing leaves questions for Bo’ness and Linlithgow

Local MP Michael Connarty has welcomed Transport Scotland's latest report last week following on from their recent consultations on the new Forth crossing. But the MP who represents Linlithgow and Bo’ness areas is raising concerns for local roads in the area – which could see huge distruption for residents on Newton, Philipstoun, Champany and ultimately Bo’ness and Linlithgow.

Michael said “the consultation has produced a lot of changes to the original scheme – and there are concerns that not all will be positive for the communities in the area along the M9 and other roads approaching the new bridge in South Queensferry.

“All of the cars and lorries that currently go over the old bridge will go onto the new bridge which lands to the west of South Queensferry – whereas public transport will be sent on the old bridge which lands to the east of South Queensferry in the direction of Edinburgh. I am concerned that West Lothian would miss out on the public transport element of the billion pound development”

“Locally the report also highlights new road designs and traffic on a lot of local roads including on the A904 and Bo’ness Road junction – this will cause severe disruption during the building phase and increased traffic when the new bridge opens.”

“The Bill is scheduled to go to the Scottish Parliament this November – and I would urge constituents to continue to raise their concerns with myself or Transport Scotland”
