Michael Connarty
Labour Member of UK Parliament - Linlithgow and East Falkirk Constituency
Linlithgow and East Falkirk MP Michael Connarty has campaigned for some considerable time against modern day slavery in the form of human trafficking.
Evidence shows that women have been trafficked into Scotland in recent years and with their passports taken off them by the traffickers then forced into prostitution. Michael Connarty has spoken out on this important human rights issue in previous Parliamentary debates trying to highlight the plight of these victims and to ensure the present Government is doing everything possible through law enforcement etc to stamp out modern day slavery in the form of human trafficking.
Michael Connarty continued to press the Coalition Government when during Scottish Questions he asked the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State fo Scotland David Mundell MP "What steps he is taking to ensure that the recommendations of the Equality and Human Rights Commission's inquiry into Human Trafficking in Scotland are fully considered by both the UK and Scottish Governments".
The Under Secretary of State stated that the Government are presently considering the findings of the Equality and Human Rights Commission into Human Trafficking in Scotland.
