Connarty brings Grangemouth & China closer together

Michael Connarty MP brought the China-UK Business Council face to face to with Grangemouth’s chemical industries to strengthen business links and discuss opportunities for trade between Grangemouth and China.

Wendy Liu, the Manager of the China-Britain Business Council toured the chemical companies in Grangemouth and outlined the business opportunities for Scottish businesses in China at this time.

Michael Connarty MP said: “despite the downturn, China is still a centre for growth targeting an 8% expansion in its economy each year. Every company we visited imported, exported or manufactured in China. With the help of the Forth Valley based chemical sciences division of Scottish Development International I hope to see these opportunities grow for local businesses and local jobs”

“As an active member of the China-UK Parliamentary Group I have recently attended meetings with the Chinese Minister for Trade Chen Deming and the Chinese Ambassador to Britain to better understand how China’s future plans will bring job opportunities to the Falkirk area”
