Michael Connarty
Labour Member of UK Parliament - Linlithgow and East Falkirk Constituency
Michael Connarty M.P.has urged any former clay miners in his constituency to contact him if they have developed knee problems as a result of their former employment. Michael said, "I am deeply concerned that because clay miners do not have the kind of protection that coal miners had from the National Union Of Mineworkers ,the many clay miners in the area never made a collective case for compensation for suffering from osteo arthritis due to their work conditions in the clay mines. I know that the conditions in clay mines were often wetter and more cramped than many coal mines as I worked on a number of occasions in the clay mines owned by Peter and Mark Hurll and company at Glenboig when I was a university student.
I am seeking the help of the local media to alert former clay miners who may feel they would like me to help them seek compensation and if they contact my Bathgate constituency office on 01506 676711 or by email on connartym@parliament.uk I can then start to mount a campaign on their behalf".
