Michael Connarty
Labour Member of UK Parliament - Linlithgow and East Falkirk Constituency
“Did He know Gordon Brown, the Prime
Minister? Did he think he was a Good Prime Minister?” “Did he realise
that the price of food was going up, and what was he going to do about
it?” The pupils did not make it easy for their visitor, but Michael later said : “I really enjoyed being back in the class room and the pupils
were so bright and engaging. It was great to meet the teachers and
particularly to see Ms Webster as Full Time Head-teacher as the school
had gone through a period when they shared one head-teacher with
another school. Falkirk Council have done well in giving the school its
own full time Head again” The pupils also showed Michael their study of Standburn and its
mining history and the understanding they had gained by visiting the
Mining museum and going down the coal mine in Midlothian. “It was a great visit, and I hope the pupils got as much out of it as I did.” Said Michael.
